About the AIS

The Athens Insomnia Scale was developed by Soldatos et al. (2000) as a brief, reliable tool for assessing insomnia based on ICD-10 criteria. It evaluates both nighttime sleep problems and daytime consequences.

A score of 6 or above suggests possible insomnia, while a score of 10 or above indicates likely insomnia that may benefit from treatment.
